Why it's always like that. One week you are swimming in Florida and ice storm is coming your way the other month. This storm was a major one. It lasted three days and left about 160K people around us without electricity. On the bright side, we've got an extra day off and everything around looks like from a winter fairy tale.
Icy rain is causing all the trouble. It happens when the rain goes at freezing temperature. It turns to ice as soon as it reaches the ground. It true also for any other objects. So, during a night the ice builds up from a half to three quarters of an inch thick on the cars, trees, cables, roads, etc. However, except for a broken down pine tree, nothing around us was damaged severely.
